The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) operates the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world and is well known for their work to protect elephants, but they do much more than this. They take all measures that relate to preservation, conservation and protection of wildlife. This includes anti-poaching, safeguarding the natural environment, enhancing community awareness and providing veterinary assistance to animals in need.
A visit to the centre is a worthwhile experience, but you do need to book early as it is a very popular venue. Bookings are accepted from three months before the date you wish to visit but not before so it is a good to arrange your itinerary with Often in Africa well in advance.
