From an early age we talked to our Grandchildren about Africa, and in particular Kenya, and told them that one day we would take them there. By the summer of 2022 we felt that they were old enough to appreciate the experience. A friend told us about Often In Africa so we made contact with Often and his son Lonick who put together a bespoke safari for the nine of us; my wife and myself, our two daughters and their husbands and three grandchildren.
With their local knowledge and experience Often in Africa provided an affordable package with accommodation that was comfortable, but did not “break the bank”, and an itinerary that suited us and which included activities which they know about because they are a local company.
Travelling with Lonick and Alex meant that we saw many aspects of Kenya which included its people, landscape and wildlife. We saw the ‘big five’, but oh! sooo much more! With a party of nine we had to limit our time in Kenya, but saw so much thanks to Lonick and Alex with their local knowledge, experience and skills.
Adapting the title of one of Gerald Durrell’s books I have published an article which I have called “Our Family and Other Animals” which is a summary of our safari. Kenya is a land which has so much to offer and so much to see and for me going with Often in Africa was the way to do it.
